Further Processing

After the consolidation of the spinning compound to a fiher, the macromolecules are oriented mostly in random directions. To increase the fiber tenacity, they have to be parallelized. Therefore, chemical fibers are drawn. The fiber diameter decreases while the macromolecules become oriented in the fiber direction. Between the chain molecules, semivalence bonds such as hydrogen bridges and other interactive bonds, for example, van der Waals forces, develop, which lead to a higher fiber tenacity. The drawing process is shown schematically in Fig. 2.51. [Pg.78]

In the spinning process without additional drawing devices, the draw ratio is determined by the take-up speed (Fig. 2.52). Depending on their draw ratio, filament yarns are distinguished according to Table 2.10. [Pg.79]

Uncrimped yarns used in textiles are mainly spun in the spin-draw process. A low or partially oriented filament yarn is being drawn completely directly after spinning in the same process between two godets. Winding speeds exceed 5000 m/min. [Pg.79]

For some years, PET uncrimped yarns have been spun commercially without any additional drawing devices. With the SHSS (super-high-speed spinning) process, the take-up speed is above 6000 m/min (FOY) (Cries et al, 1996). It remains to be seen how popular this godet-less spinning method will become. [Pg.80]

Filament yarns for industrial and technical applications are mostly uncrimped yarns spun in the spin-draw process. The drawing is a two-step process with subsequent thermal fixation (four pairs of godets). [Pg.80]

These reactions can be reversed in a distillation column. This releases the hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide for further processing. The monoethanolamine can then be recycled. [Pg.58]

Placing the next match above the pinch as shown in Fig. 16.21c also allows the CP inequality to be obeyed. The area for both matches in Fig. 16.21c is 7856 m , and the target for the remaining problem is 1020 m . Accepting both matches causes the overall area target to be exceeded by 17 m (0.2 percent). This seems to be reasonable, and both matches are accepted. No further process-to-process matches are possible, and it remains to place hot utility. [Pg.388]

Figure 16.22c shows an additional match placed on the other branch for stream 3 with its duty maximized to 3 MW to tick off stream 3. No further process-to-process matches are possible, and it remains to place cold utility. [Pg.389]

After passing through several stages of processing, gas pressure may need to be increased before it can be evacuated, used for gas lift or re-injected. Inter-stage pressure increases may also be required for further processing, particularly where wellhead pressure is low. Gas is compressed to increase its pressure. [Pg.252]

The gas processing options described in the previous section were designed primarily to meet on-site usage or evacuation specifications. Before delivery to the customer further processing would normally be carried out at dedicated gas processing plants, which may receive gas from many different gas and oil fields. Gas piped to such plants is normally treated to prevent liquid drop out under pipeline conditions (dew point control) but may still contain considerable volumes of natural gas liquids (NGL) and also contaminants. [Pg.253]

Although the presented results prove the efficiency of radioscopy, this system have certain characteristics which justify to develop and employ further process integrated testing systems. One of this characteristics is that the integration of radioscopy in industrial applications is doubtful because of reasons of radiation protection. This means, that the results from radioscopy should rather be used to fit other systems (acoustic emission analysis or temperature analysis) for industrial applications. [Pg.12]

In principle, the pictures with the indications to be valuated where stored. The regions of interest where cut out and rearranged in a new picture for further processing as shown for example in Fig. 3. You see a part of the reference block No. 1 with indications from 3 wetting procedures (horizontal) of 6 detection media (vertical). [Pg.672]

Block 3 a device for management and synchronisation. Serves for adjusting the parameters of the system, gain factor, input impedance, amplitude and the duration of the initial pulse, as well as ensures a database communication for the further processing by the computer. [Pg.731]

Software allows to work in the mode of the ordinary ultrasonic flaw detector, to record and look through earlier recorded data files, to measures parameters of ultrasonic signals, to transmit through the buffer of the exchange the arrays for the further processing by different applications of Windows. [Pg.731]

RAMSES is usually generated from molecular structures in a VB representation. The details of the connection table (localized charges, lone pairs, and bond orders) are kept within the model and are accessible for further processes. Bond orders are stored with the n-systems, while the number of free electrons is stored with the atoms. Upon modification oF a molecule (e.g., in systems dealing with reactions), the VB representation has to be generated in an adapted Form from the RAMSES notation. [Pg.69]

Thus, the presence or absence of a given structure frequently needs to be checked and the retrieved structure (if any) has to be further processed. [Pg.291]

The advantages of spectra for structure representation are their high information content and their easy, accurate, and reproducible measurement. On top of that, spectrometers provide this spectral information already in electronic form and therefore directly amenable to further processing. [Pg.431]

Sorted plastic packaging materials are shipped, usually in bales, to processing plants to be converted to polymer resins. The bales are broken and the bottles sorted to ensure that only one type of polymer is further processed. Processing consists of chopping and grinding the bottles into flakes. These flakes are washed. Processing steps such as flotation are used to remove polymeric contaminants from the flakes (15,16). The flakes are melted and converted into pellets. [Pg.230]

Secondary Treatment and Uses. The vast majority of OSB panels are used "as is," without further processing or treatment. Primary uses are as wall and roof sheathing, floor decking, and other constmction panel uses in home and commercial constmction. OSB products are effectively filling in for the decline in plywood production. Small amounts of OSB are used in furniture, primarily as frame stock, and in other uses in which plywood might be used. [Pg.396]

The purpose of such scmbbing operations may be any of the following gas purification (eg, removal of air pollutants from exhaust gases or contaminants from gases that will be further processed), product recovery, or production of solutions of gases for various purposes. Several examples of appHed absorption processes are shown in Table 1. [Pg.18]

Compounds with active hydrogen add to the carbonyl group of acetone, often followed by the condensation of another molecule of the addend or loss of water. Hydrogen sulfide forms hexamethyl-l,3,5-trithiane probably through the transitory intermediate thioacetone which readily trimerizes. Hydrogen cyanide forms acetone cyanohydrin [75-86-5] (CH2)2C(OH)CN, which is further processed to methacrylates. Ammonia and hydrogen cyanide give (CH2)2C(NH2)CN [19355-69-2] ix.orn. 6<55i the widely used polymerization initiator, azobisisobutyronitrile [78-67-1] is made (4). [Pg.93]

Removal of brine contaminants accounts for a significant portion of overall chlor—alkali production cost, especially for the membrane process. Moreover, part or all of the depleted brine from mercury and membrane cells must first be dechlorinated to recover the dissolved chlorine and to prevent corrosion during further processing. In a typical membrane plant, HCl is added to Hberate chlorine, then a vacuum is appHed to recover it. A reducing agent such as sodium sulfite is added to remove the final traces because chlorine would adversely react with the ion-exchange resins used later in the process. Dechlorinated brine is then resaturated with soHd salt for further use. [Pg.502]

Cmde oils from these processes are often of insufficient quaUty to be used directly, particularly for edible products. Impurities such as pigments, phosphatides, volatile odorous compounds, and certain metals must be removed by further processing. [Pg.124]

Benzene, toluene, and a mixed xylene stream are subsequently recovered by extractive distillation using a solvent. Recovery ofA-xylene from a mixed xylene stream requires a further process step of either crystallization and filtration or adsorption on molecular sieves. o-Xylene can be recovered from the raffinate by fractionation. In A" xylene production it is common to isomerize the / -xylene in order to maximize the production of A xylene and o-xylene. Additional benzene is commonly produced by the hydrodealkylation of toluene to benzene to balance supply and demand. Less common is the hydrodealkylation of xylenes to produce benzene and the disproportionation of toluene to produce xylenes and benzene. [Pg.175]

The reason for the popularity of anhydrous ammonia is its economy. No further processing is needed and it has a very high (82.2%) nitrogen content. Additionally if held under pressure or refrigerated, ammonia is a Hquid. Being a Hquid, pipeline transport is practical and economical. A network of overland pipelines (Fig. 4) is in operation in the United States to move anhydrous ammonia economically from points of production near natural gas sources to points of utilization in farming areas (see Pipelines). [Pg.217]

Take-Up. Take-up devices attenuate the spinline to the desired linear density and collect the spun yam in a form suitable for further processing. A godet wheel is typically used to control the take-up velocity which varies from 1—2 m/s for heavy monofilaments to 10—33 m/s for fine yams. The yam can be stacked in cans, taken up on bobbins, or directiy transferred to drawing and texturizing equipment. [Pg.317]

The resuspended and formulated Fraction II precipitate normally contains some aggregated IgG and trace substances that can cause hypotensive reactions in patients, such as the enzyme prekail ikrein activator (186). These features restrict this type of product to intramuscular adininistration. Further processing is required if products suitable for intravenous adininistration are required. Processes used for this purpose include treatment at pH 4 with the enzyme pepsin [9001-75-6] being added if necessary (131,184), or further purification by ion-exchange chromatography (44). These and other methods have been fiiUy reviewed (45,185,187,188). Intravenous immunoglobulin products are usually suppHed in the freeze-dried state but a product stable in the solution state is also available (189). [Pg.532]
